Let Your Feelings Out

Can you open up the door?
Let your feelings out!
Let out all of the voices,
Release yourself from drought!

Can you open up the door?
Let me go inside,
Let me know your feelings
You’re always trying to hide!

Can you open up the door?
Tell me all that is wrong,
Tell me what to sing
So I can hear the right song!

Can you open up the door?
Break the chains you wear,
Let me hold the sorrow
That’s too much to bear.

Can you open up the door?
Let the past unwind,
Let the light come pouring
Through the cracks you find.

Can you open up the door?
Let your heart be free,
Let the weight you carry
Flow away with me.

Can you?
For the one last time?

Can you open up the door

Why We Hold Back

Many of us keep our emotions locked away, afraid of vulnerability. We fear judgment, rejection, or even the overwhelming weight of our truths. But silence can be heavy, and emotions need release. Holding back may seem like the safest option, but over time, it creates an emotional drought—one where our true selves are hidden behind walls we build for protection.

There is a quiet power in letting someone in. It’s not about exposing weakness but about embracing connection. We often assume that our struggles are ours alone to bear, yet sharing our thoughts and emotions with someone who truly listens can be healing. A burden carried together always feels lighter than one carried alone.

The Healing of Expression

Expression takes many forms. Some write, some sing, some speak, and some find solace in the arts. The important thing is to let the emotions out, to give them a space where they can breathe and transform. Sometimes, what we struggle to say out loud can be spoken through poetry, music, or even a simple conversation with a trusted friend.

Breaking the Silence

Silence can be comforting, but it can also be suffocating. When we don’t give voice to our feelings, they build up like an unsaid storm waiting to break. The moment we open the door to our emotions, we make space for understanding, healing, and growth. Even if it’s just for a moment, even if it’s just for one last time—letting someone in can change everything.

If you’ve been holding something in, maybe it’s time to open the door. Not every listener will understand, but the right one will. And when they do, they won’t just hear your words—they’ll hear your heart.
