I Knew and Still I Stayed

I was never unaware.

Do not think
I didn’t understand the world.

I knew
how people leave
long before they say goodbye.

I knew
how love changes its voice
when it begins to fade.

And still

I stayed.

Not because I was weak.

No.

I stayed
because I wanted to see
how far something broken
could still pretend to live.

You speak to me of strength.

Strength?

I have seen strong people
collapse
over things they once laughed at.

I have seen promises
outlive the people
Who made them?

Power, you say.

Power is a strange illusion.

The one who controls others
is admired.

The one who controls himself
is alone.

And I

I chose the second kind.

Not because it is noble.

But because I had no desire
to win
a world
that never felt like mine.

You call it detachment.

I call it understanding.

Once you see clearly,
you cannot return
to comfortable lies.

You begin to lose interest
in everything
that once felt important.

Conversations feel smaller.
People feel temporary.
Even your own desires
start to fade.

And then one day
You realize

You are no longer searching
for happiness.

You are only searching
for silence.

So no
I was never unaware.

I simply learned
that knowing everything

changes nothing.

And still

I stayed.
