I miss you, yeah, I miss you.
Though I’m trying not to miss you right now.
You were never a fan of pictures,
So I hardly ever took them.
I keep our memories safe inside my mind,
Especially those moments we shared alone in the bedroom,
So I never forget the warmth of your skin.
I saved all our texts,
And all our sweetest moments over the years,
Just to remind myself
Of how good it felt,
And how beautiful it once was.
I miss you in the quiet,
When the nights feel a little too long.
I reach for my phone,
Then remember that you’re no longer here.
I still remember your favorite songs,
And how you’d sing them off-key.
I remember how you’d laugh at your own jokes,
And somehow make everything feel lighter.
I miss the little things
That no one else would ever understand.
The way you’d fall asleep beside me,
With your fingers wrapped around my hand.
The conversations that never seemed to end,
And the silence that never felt strange.
We thought we’d always stay the same,
Never knowing how much we would change.
I still read our old messages,
As if there’s something left to find.
I keep searching for a piece of us,
Somewhere between those familiar lines.
Your name still feels familiar,
But your life feels so far away.
I hate that I’m learning
To live without you every day.
I tell myself I’m healing,
And that I’m finally learning to let go.
But some nights, I miss the person
Only I was lucky enough to know.
Maybe love doesn’t disappear;
It simply learns to live with loss.
Some memories remain beautiful,
Even when remembering them comes at a cost.
So yeah, I miss you,
More than I ever let you see.
Not because I want our past back,
But because you once felt like home to me.
If you ever think about us,
I hope you remember what we shared kindly.
Because I still carry a little piece of you,
In the one place you’ll always remain
My mind.
